Definition (Occupation time)

For any set $A\subset X$, the occupation time, $\eta_{A}$ is the number of visits of some MC $\{ X_{i} \}_{i=1}^{\infty}$, to set $A$ $$\eta_{A}=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty}\mathbb{1}_{X_{i}\in A}$$
