Let $(X,\mathscr{M})$ be a measurable space. Let $E\in\mathscr{M}$. Define $$\mathscr{M}_{E}=\{ A\cap E:A\in\mathscr{M} \}$$ then $\mathscr{M}_{E}$ is a σ-algebra of subsets of $E$.
